Space Furniture – Industry Event

March 9, 2009

The Moooi window installation was de-installed on Wednesday, but not before we celebrated the month-long collaboration between myself, Space Furniture and Porter’s Original Paints.

Space opened its doors to the architecture and interiors industries on Tuesday 3 March and gave me the opportunity to present my story of ‘making place’ through our collaboration. Apart from a small talk I gave (I’d prefer to say ‘conversation I had’), guests enjoyed a Baroque-inspired feast of fresh and exotic fruit, both ripe and overflowing from the banquet table in the Brisbane showroom’s front window.

When discussing the concept of the event, Tony Flamos (National Merchandise Manager, Space Furniture) said “Wouldn’t it be great to host the event in the window where the guests become part of a living, art installation? We would be as one family eating from the banquet table in the grand dining room.” And so it was…

Troy Hansen took some fabulous images through the course of the event (featured in this post), from social photos to a ‘family portrait’. Thank you Troy for working your magic.

It was a great night to make connections with new people and re-connections with familiar faces. Everyone seemed to make a connection with the wallpaper itself and it was very well received. It was a great opportunity for me to communicate the intentions of the design and give further insight into the collaboration. It all started with a vision and came full circle…

Again, all my thanks to Tony Flamos and Carmel Haugh (Contract Manager, Space) for supporting and hosting the event, and many thanks to Kathryn Rooney (Architectural Representative, Porter’s) who travelled from Sydney to be with us on the night.
