Creative Drinks

September 21, 2009

On Thursday night (straight after SuperNature), I exhibited a display of my Falling Leaves Collection of wallpaper and sustainable textiles at the Creative Drinks networking event in Fortitude Valley. Held at the Design College Australia, the event was themed “Sustainability” and I showed alongside product designer, Georgina Lewis from Georgi no e please (with her Goldy locks Table & Chairspictured below) and industrial designer, Bjorn Rust (with his chairs 69).Creative Drinks provides members of the creative industry with an opportunity to showcase their work, network with fellow creatives and see up and-coming talent. The events are a combination of stage show, exhibition, information and networking in a non-competitive environment. The evening’s speakers were Peter Boyle and Deb Robbins from Verge Urban Landscape Architecture addressing issues of sustainability in their projects. Their presentation was a nice bookend to the SuperNature seminars. They focused on two main projects: Berrinba Wetlands / South West 1 and their work with Year 11 students, proactively engaging them with their environment. After a recent trip to Dubai, Denis (aka Dirty Mex) provided the backdrop of sounds for the evening where introductions and new relationships formed and old ones re-ignited.

For information on the next event, keep an eye on the Creative Drinks website.
