Briggs’ Lanterns – De-Installation

February 21, 2010

On Saturday, I met with Gordon Conn, Project Manager and Amanda Harris, Lead Designer, Urban Art Projects (UAP), to de-install the temporary artwork, Briggs’ Lanterns, created under the UAP Mentorship Residency.

This was another super-streamlined process at UAP’s experienced hands, simply removing the lanterns and pin-bolts and making good the wall.

When the de-install was finished, the only clues left behind of our short stay were feint shadows of city dirt on the wall where the lanterns had been, which will gradually wash away, leaving no trace.
Such is the life of an ephemeral artwork…

Many thanks again to UAP, Artisan and the Brisbane City Council for their support, guidance and encouragement throughout this project. I have learned so much and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to Explore, Experiment and Extend within my arts and design practice.

Now for the next project…
