GreenTag™ Certified

March 8, 2010

Today I had the good fortune to attend a free information session about GreenTag™ certification, presented by David Baggs, Technical Director for Ecospecifier Global.

Ecospecifier Global is committed to raising standards for green building materials and methods with the introduction of its four-tier GreenTag™ eco-label certification process.

The GreenTag™ is a third party, green building certification system, underpinned by rigorous scientific and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) processes. Its advanced, robust LCA certification and GreenRate methodology, developed exclusively by Ecospecifier, is a world first.

GreenTag™ will “simply and effectively demonstrate to the market and the industry which building materials and methods are ecological, safe and socially-responsible compared to other comparable function business as usual products”.

“In Australia, GreenTag™ is expected to become the benchmark for green products vying for selection in buildings to be approved by the Green Star system, awarded by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).” It will replace other certifications currently used in Australia including Green Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) and products will have to be re-certified. They will then be eligible for listing on Ecospecifier Global’s searchable Online Green Materials Resource.

For more information, visit Ecospecifier Global’s website under GreenTag™ Certification.

Many thanks to Trade Queensland for supporting the information session in Brisbane.
