Botanica – Inspiration from Nature

April 12, 2010

While at the Toowong Cemetery visiting Walter Hill’s grave, I found these beautiful Pine Cones. Later, near my studio in New Farm, I collected some Poinciana seedpods and Mango leaves.

I also found the strange flower/seed pods in the image at bottom right. If you can identify these, please leave a comment!

Hi, KT, I am pretty sure these are the flower buds from an African Tulip tree. They are generally in big clusters, but will often break off and drop to the ground.

Hope this is of some help,

    Robert.

Thanks Robert… I’ve double checked the images and you’re spot on! Thanks to your eagle eye, I now know what these amazing trees are that populate the New Farm riverfront and New Farm Park. Cheers!
