Valentino Retrospective: Past/Present/Future

August 9, 2010

Brisbane is really lucky… Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future, a major exhibition developed by Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris, opened on Friday night at the Gallery of Modern Art and I got an exclusive pass! It explores the work of the celebrated Italian fashion house Valentino, known around the world for its sophisticated, timeless design and glamorous clientele.

The exhibition looks at haute couture from the first collection designed in 1959 through to work from the Autumn/Winter 2009–10 collections. Valentino’s work is opulent, with exquisite detail and in keeping with ‘Valentino’s red’, guests to the opening were invited to dress with a ‘splash of red’ and they certainly did!

Designs from house of Valentino have been coveted and worn by European royalty, Hollywood celebrities and members of high society the world over. This is a must-see exhibition if you love beautiful clothes, design and meticulous attention to detail.
