DESIGN SPOT – Futari Design

September 8, 2010

Welcome Director of Futari Design, Melissa Healy to DESIGN SPOT. Showcasing a strong and consistent folio of work across both residential and commercial interiors, read on for a glimpse into Futari Design…

What services do you offer?

Futari Design provides complete end to end interior design solutions across residential and commercial environments. From the initial design process through to the selection of fixtures, finishes to final styling incorporating furnishings and accessories.

Describe your background and what led you to starting your business?

A history of working in commercial environments and managing residential developments led to the launch of Futari Design in 2005. My passion and appreciation of the creative arts provides the foundations for my role as a living space designer.

How did you come up with your business name?

Futari is a Japanese word meaning ‘two people’ – our interpretation being the relationship built with our clients.

What kinds of projects are you working?

A great mix of both residential and commercial projects in the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast areas. More recently Futari Design has been commissioned to provide design solutions for a number of professional suites within the Brisbane’s legal precinct and a boutique hotel refurbishment project.

What are the most important things for you to communicate through your designs?

Timeless, responsive & sustainable design solutions that reflect the values & lifestyle of our client are always our principal goal.

Are there any specific design influences in your work or do you have a signature style?

Our key design influence is the reflection of our clients’ core ideals in a functional, evolving & unique interior. Connection to the external environment & contextual suitability is also a major influence in our work. This aspiration has resulted in a consistent approach within our project portfolio for the use of natural elements and sympathetic styling.

Is there anything else you think you’d like mentioned?

Referrals and word of mouth continue to be our greatest source of business! Please mention this article when booking your appointment with Futari Design and you’ll receive 25% off the initial consultation fee.

A great read – and what a great deal for your readers! Melissa is another Person of Style in my eyes!

Melissa and her team were a part of my “Finding Your Style” (You, Home, Garden) event last year and featured three great room makeovers in record time. Love your work Melissa; and KT, thanks for sharing the work and talents of so many great designers via your Blog! You too are truly a Woman of Style!
