Collected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill – Exhibition Invitation

February 14, 2011

Here it is… you’ve been waiting for it…

Coinciding with Myrtle Street Studio‘s first anniversary, Collected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill runs from 5-12 March 2011 showcasing new paper and textile-based works celebrating the significance of early settler, Walter Hill’s, contribution to the Brisbane and Queensland environment and agricultural economy through his work as the first curator of the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens (1855-1881).

This is a beautiful show with a simple, refined and reflective aesthetic and the MSS gallery at the Grange is little a gem. The gallery is also a studio and while my show is up, it will also house the Heidelberg Windmill Letterpress we used to print some of the artworks in the exhibition.

I’ll be sitting the exhibition for its duration, so check the invitation for gallery opening hours and come along, bring a friend, I’d love to show you around…
