Capital Growth: The Piggy Bank Project – Artisan

May 24, 2011

Artisan’s current exhibition, Capital Growth: The Piggy Bank Project, features rapid prototypes by leading Queensland designers, in response to the brief set by curator Alexander Lotersztain.

This is not just an exhibition, it’s an opportunity for the designers involved to participate in a project that connects them with 3D printing and allows public participation, through the People’s Choice Award as well as each work being eligible to receive an Industry Award to help support the commercial production of one of the designs.

There is a beautiful simplicity in the display of the work, in that each prototype has been left unfinished, allowing for an un-biased reading of the works and revealing a critical phase of the design process.

Exhibiting are: Jason Bird, Neil Davidson, Jon Goulder, Surya Graf, Marc Harrison, Julian Munro, Björn Rust, David Shaw and Shane Thompson.

For more information, visit Artisan’s website and blog. Oh, and check out Björn’s beautiful video of the opening event…

Exhibition runs until 2 July 2011…
