Australian Garden History Society + Collected Patterns – Results!

July 27, 2011

I mentioned here, that I was preparing a presentation to give to the Australian Garden History Society (AGHS) on Sunday at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mount Coot-tha. Well, I did. And, it was very well received indeed! Such an interested and supportive audience, they listened intently and then gave me lots of useful and interesting feedback during question time. This was an absolute delight of an afternoon, even if we were inside on this beautiful Brisbane winter’s day!

It was a special moment for me to not only have the opportunity to talk about Walter Hill and my exhibition of new paper-based and textile works that explore plants in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens during his curatorship (1855-1881), but to do this at the Gardens themselves. What a treat!

A little exciting news…

Many of the works from my exhibition Collected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill, will be travelling to Maryborough in regional Queensland as part of the AGHS Annual Conference. Several artists have been invited to participate in a display of work, which touch on botanical themes and I’m honoured to be keeping company with the likes of Brisbane’s Jeweller to the Lost, Barbara Heath with her beautiful works

The Conference will be held in September and the works will be for sale. Those lucky conference delegates!
